Students, we're told, are essentially preparing for jobs that we don't even know exist yet.

How does that change our work as college counselors?

I've been re-reading Stephen Downes' excellent post on Things You Really Need to Learn and thinking about how those ideas might apply to the college search process.

What are the things students really need to learn about colleges as they try to determine which schools represent the best "fit" for them?

What are the things students need to know in order to assess a school's ability to prepare them for the great unknown?

And how will they learn these things?\
